The Perfect Birthday Present for Mom

Happy Birthday to ME!  Happy Birthday to ME! Happy Birthday Dear MEEEEEE!  Happy Birthday to ME!

Yep, today is MY birthday.

It’s MY Day to focus on ME.

My dear husband asked what I wanted this year, and all I told him was that I wanted a day.

The Perfect Birthday Present for Mom

One Day.

One day away from it all where I can go shopping and have lunch at an adult restaurant without kids.  One day where I can do whatever the heck I want to without having to worry about 2 little boys. One day when I can get dressed without having to worry about getting snot or dirt on my clothes.

One Day.

But for me to get that one day, I need his help.

He needs to be the one who woke up with the kids.  He needs to make their breakfast.  He needs to wipe their noses and change the baby’s diaper.  He needs to do nap time and *gasp* make dinner.  He needs to do it all.

You know what my dear husband said?  He simply said “Of course, I can do that”.

And that my friends, is how you make a mother’s birthday perfect.

A part of me feels bad that I’m escaping for the day.  Shouldn’t I want to spend the day with the people I love?

But you know what?  I spend every day with them.  I need to spend the day with me.

Because….

So, today is MY Day.  My day to play and focus on me, so that I can give my family the best of me.

Great quote in the picture. Definitely feel the last few days my kids have received the ‘whats left of me’ instead of the mum I can be. I love how your husband simply said ‘of course’. Good man. Was it as simple as he thought it might be?
    Happy Birthday!! 🙂

Thanks! He’s a keeper for sure 🙂 He’s taken care of them on his own before and does pretty well. It wears him out for sure, and makes him more appreciative of what I do every day 🙂
