Do you need some more Valentine’s Day inspiration for your young toddler? Sometimes holiday activities for young children can be difficult because they aren’t really “crafty” yet and can’t make all those fun holiday crafts. So, over the next 7 days I’m going to show you 7 fun ways of having Valentines Day fun with your young toddlers.
Day One: Jell-O and Ice Sensory Tray
I found some heart shaped ice cube trays in the Dollar Spot at Target (one of my favorite places for kids things). I made some red heart ice cubes by adding a little bit of red food dye to the water before freezing. I also made some raspberry flavored jell-o hearts. I put them all together in a sensory box, handed him a spoon, and let him have at it.
Some of the jell-o hearts didn’t come out of the molds very well…boo. Oh well, he didn’t seem to mind!
This was a fun activity to talk about the color red, the slimy jell-o, and the cold ice hearts.
It also tasted pretty darn good too!
Come back tomorrow for more Valentines Day fun!
Great sensory and I really love your blog name and the picture to go with it! LOL 🙂
I clicked on your activity picture and had to smile as I read your blog name. I know my buddies would love this idea!
Thanks guys! I tried to come up with a name that wouldn’t easily be forgotten. 🙂
Hi! I am visiting from TGIF! I love the idea of the ice and jello sensory bin. I have the same heart mold in my sensory bin to use for sorting, but I need to pull it out to use in the kitchen! Thanks for the ideas!
