Getting Organized Monday: Kids Clothing and Fostering Independence

Each Monday I’m going to be posting something that can help you organize your home. I think that being organized really helps to run a household…especially with little kids running around.

Giving children choices gives them sense of control which is good for their self-esteem.  It also helps prevent temper tantrums because it makes children feel like they have a say and some control over their lives.  Plus, it helps foster independence!

Busy Kids = Happy Mom encourages independence and gives choices by the way she organizes her children’s clothing.  She took a sweater organizer for the closet and hung one in each of her child’s closets. She then picked out an outfit for each day of the week and placed them in the organizer.

Her children then get to pick out their clothing for the day from the outfits she’s already chosen.
Good idea huh?

As of right now, J picks out his shirt for the day, but I do the rest of the outfit.  He’s almost two and so I know that he’s soon going to be wanting more control and independence in his life.  I love this idea and I know that this will be one way I can give him a bit more control in his life.
Thanks Busy Kids = Happy Mom!

I have been working at getting more organized. You’re right, with kids, it makes life so much easier. I’m super impressed that your son unloads the dishwasher. RIght now, we’re just trying to get our daughter to help pick up her toys and set the table.:) Thanks so much for stopping by Everyday Gameplan.:)
