Cookie Cutter and Sponge Painting

J is a big fan of anything that has to do with transportation.  He LOVES cars, trains, planes, trucks…basically anything that goes!

I decided to take advantage of that and do a fun art activity with J using transportation cookie cutters and sponges.  I was a bit apprehensive about this activity because J has not liked getting his hands dirty lately.  But, I thought I’d just try it and see how it went.

I put the paint on paper plates and laid out the cutters and sponges.  J immediately picked up the sponges and dipped them into the paint.

The sponges didn’t leave the impressions that I hoped they would.  They just left colored blobs behind, but the cutters left great outlines of the shapes!

I think that the cars really helped keep J’s attention with this activity.  He loved driving them around saying “choo-choo” and “beep-beep”

This activity kept J’s attention for a while…

and he only complained a little about the paint on his hands!

Those phases are funny. One day they love to get their hands messy, the next they don’t. Cute picture of him with that face.
