We’ve been playing outside so much lately because the weather has been AMAZING! The problem is that I haven’t been doing very many activities with J. So, today I went to my Kids Ideas board on Pinterst to see what fun things I could take outside.
Immediately the Dish Soap Foam from Hand On: As We Grow jumped out at me and I knew what we were going to do today.
This was super easy and oh so much fun! All I did was squirt a bit of dish soap in my food processor, added some water, turned it on, and let the foam form. The longer you run your food processor, the better the foam.
I wanted to make a bunch, so I used my blender too. I found that the food processor makes a thicker foam and I liked it much better than the blender.
I made several batches, enough to cover the bottom of my big plastic box. I made one batch of pink and one batch of blue, using food coloring, to make it a bit more fun.
I added a cup, paint brush, and a few transportation sponges to enhance the play some.
J was a little apprehensive at first…remember, he doesn’t like getting stuff on his hands.
After a bit, he warmed up to it and got totally immersed in he play.
He dumped some more water in the tub using the cup, he stirred with the paintbrush, but he loved the sponges the most. They absorbed a lot and became super squishy!
This was an absolutely fantastic activity. I think we’ll be doing this a bunch this summer. The bubble-foam had such a great texture.
Plus, my food processor and blender got a good wash too!
That does look like a lot of fun! Wishing I had a food processor now :/ and clean windows too what a bonus!
I love it when he puts his WHOLE self into an activity!!
Oh wow! What fantastic photos! Looks like a lot of fun!
Very cool! Don’t have a food processor but might try that in the blender! Wishing the weather was warmer here in Oregon (we had snow last week!) so that we can hurry up and play outside!
I love this. I’m not sure what Hublet would say if i started filling the food processor with soap (although he kept his cool when I tried to wash something in the washing machine using dish soap – that also produced a lot of bubbles!).
I will definitely be trying this one. Thanks for sharing with Kids Co-op
Love that you took it outside and great tools you provided him with! Wonderful! 🙂
I love this! Great idea! plus a little child labor in the process!! Lol
Oh, I can’t wait till the weather is nice. We like to use the foamy soap dispensers to make foamy soap. I never thought of colouring it, though. We’ll have to do that next time!
Oh, my girl would loooooove this! She’s always looking for more bubbles!
Always a bonus when a fun activity ends with cleaner windows! 🙂
