A Week of Invitations to Play: Construction Site

Each day this week I’ll be sharing a new Invitation to Play.  Yesterday I shared our Pasta and Playdough Invitation and today it’s all about the Construction Site.

I don’t know about your little boys, but J is obsessed with anything with wheels, especially construction trucks.  I decided to take advantage of his love for diggers and set up an Invitation to Play that he couldn’t resist!

Invitation to Play: Construction Site The set up:

  • White beans
  • River rocks
  • Cornmeal
  • Construction trucks

I placed everything into a plastic box to the contain the mess…kind of.  I also added a few blocks so J could build something if he wanted to.

Invitation to Play: Construction Site  J’s favorite part was using his diggers to fill up the dump truck.  This was a great sensory experience for J because of all the different textures and smells inside the box.

Invitation to Play: Construction SiteThis was a blast for J, but did cause me to get a bit stressed.  You see the cornmeal made quite the mess.  Next time I’ll use something different, like dirt or even sand.

IMG_7327 I will say that I didn’t have to do all the clean up myself!  J loves to help vacuum!

Make sure you come back for tomorrow’s invitation…it’s a good one!

If you like what you see here, you’ll love all the fun stuff I pin on Pinterest!

So great. Our boys would definitely get a long. By the way, do not think I have told you how much I love the look of the site.
