Last week I took J outside to help me pick weeds in our flower beds. Ever since, J has been asking me to dig in the dirt. Everyday we go out to the yard and dig.
So, I took his love of digging and put together a fun sensory tray just for him.
We were out of potting soil, so I took dirt from our flowerbeds and added a layer of dirt into a plastic box. Inside the box, I hid a few treasures for him to find and gave him a shovel.
He loved digging around and finding all the fun stuff hidden inside.
Since I used dirt from our flower beds, there were all kinds of neat stuff inside. We founds a few worms, a spider, and lots of roots.
After J found all of the treasure, he cleaned the dirt off, lined them up, and counted them.
This activity was so much fun for J and he played most of the afternoon digging in his sensory box. I highly recommend this activity. It’s so much fun, plus it’s simple and I bet you already have everything you need.
Come on over to Facebook and Instagram to see how else we play!
