Welcome to Messy Motherhood
On Messy Motherhood, we’re going to bust the myth of the super-mom, and embrace our imperfections.
We can be real here, we can tell our stories, and get proven tips that work! Because that’s what Mothers need.
We don’t need people beating us down and telling us how much we’re messing up.
We need a guilt-free, judgment-free zone where we can be real about the messiness of Motherhood.
That’s what Messy Motherhood is all about.
Here….
we are parents, doing the work of many.
we are trying to learn about our kids and what makes them tick.
we feel such intense love for our kids but we worry about messing them up.
we feel such pressure that sometimes we yell.
we manage the house, work, school, relationships, and have a to-do list longer than we ever could ever dream of,
and, we’re learning to put ourselves back on that list!
As you continue on your journey through Messy Motherhood, there are a few important things to remember…
You Are A Good Parent!
Trust me, you are!
I know, you’re probably thinking, “she knows nothing about me!” But the truth is, if you are here reading about parenting and trying to do better, then you are a great parent already.
Good parents try. Bad parents don’t.
Since we are trying to do better, we go searching for some good tips and advice to make this parenting gig easier. But…
“Kids don’t come with a manual”
We hear that all the time, but yet we still look for the “right way”. We scour parenting blogs and books searching for that golden advice that will solve all our problems with our kids. The truth is…that there is no such thing.
Parenting is hard. It just is. Most parents are thrown into it without any training yet are expected to excel. So, we end up feeling like failures from time to time…or all the time.
So, during those times when you feel like you’re failing, I want you to know that you can come here. Because here you’ll find that…
It’s normal.
- It’s normal to feel like you’re failing and that nothing you’re doing is working.
- It’s normal to find yourself in a Mom Funk where you are irritable and angry with your kids.
- It’s normal to feel the crushing loneliness of parenthood.
- It’s normal to feel madly in love with your kids one minute, and then want them to just leave you ALONE the next.
I hope that you come here and understand that it’s normal but also get some tips and encouragement to get out of the funk.
Who Am I?
Hey there, I’m Amanda. I was a Mental Health Counselor who worked with children and families in crisis before I became a Stay at Home Mom to two boys. I have a Bachelors Degree in Child Development and Family Studies and a Masters in Counseling where I specialized in Children’s Mental Health Counseling.
I left my job in 2010 when I had my oldest son. You see…my husband is in the military, and we move a LOT. I love the adventure, but maintaining a counseling license while moving so often is difficult. So, I decided to help parents virtually through this site, my online courses, and individual coaching services.
“Since becoming a parent, I’ve felt the same doubt, uncertainty, and guilt that every parent feels. I thought that my education and experience prepared me for parenthood, but I had no idea!”
