Valentine’s Gooey Bag

Welcome to Day 5 of Young Toddler Valentine’s Day Activities.

Day 5: Gooey Bag

This is such a super easy activity to put together and so much fun for little ones!  All I did was fill a large zipper bag with clear hair gel, glitter, and red food coloring.

The texture of the bag is really cool and the kids can use their fingers to draw shapes and letters in the bag.  It’s like finger painting without the mess!

I tried this but the red food coloring didn’t show up. It stuck to the glitter but didn’t spread out. Cute idea that I screwed up somehow! 😉

Hi Amy! I couldn’t find my regular red food coloring that day, so I used gel food coloring. I’m sorry it didn’t work well for you…I had no idea there would be a big difference in using a different food coloring! I bet paint would work well.

Wonderful idea! I also used the regular (water-based) food coloring, and when it didn’t spread around I added water to the bag. We didn’t get the finger-painting effect, but the oil and colored water was still a lot of fun to play with!
