Valentine’s Day Heart Containers

Welcome to Day 6 of Young Toddler Valentine’s Day Activities.

Day 6: Heart Containers

IMG_1947

Young children love filling and dumping containers.   So, when I found these cute heart containers at Target’s Dollar Spot, I knew exactly how I’d present them to J.  I filled one with his favorite red gems and the other with heart shaped pasta.  I put them on a cookie sheet (to contain everything) and let him explore.

J is getting better about not putting things in his mouth, but I still stay close because of choking hazards.  If you’re worried about choking hazards, use a larger container (like an empty heart shaped chocolate box) and fill it with larger objects (like torn paper or blocks).

This was a fun Valentines Day activity for J and it kept his attention for a while!  It’s  simple, yet perfect for younger kids.  Great for fine motor and problem solving skills.
