Toddler-Made Halloween Collage

Toddler Halloween Collage

The other day I put together a really fun activity for J that was super simple and so much fun.  I gathered all my Halloween craft supplies, glue, and markers and laid them all out with a big sheet of paper for J to freely create on.

He dove right in and immediately started gluing away.

The best thing about an activity like this is that it works on so many skills at once.  It’s great for fine motor skills when gluing and peeling the paper off felt letters.

This is also great for large motor skills.  J had to move all around the floor to create.  He even jumped over his artwork a few times too!

Toddler Halloween Collage This is a prime example of a process over product activity.  In other terms, the end result doesn’t matter as much as the creative process.  I don’t care that the collage isn’t all that pretty, what I do care about is that my son made it on his own, the way he wanted to.  I have hung the collage on his playroom wall, and he loves it.  He still talks about his collage and we add to it now and again when he asks to.

This is a good idea that helps encourage thinking and creativity. This can be done with Christmas too. I gotta share this with the guys and gals at baby music classes sydney.
