Two years ago, I put together one of the best Halloween activities we have ever done, our Spider Webs and Ghosts. My 3 year old, J, has no recollection of doing this, so I decided to do it again!
It’s impossible to find black crepe paper in the stores the week before Halloween, so I went with white. I also thought that we needed spiders instead of ghosts this time. So I made some spiders out of black tissue paper, pipe cleaners, and googly eyes. I simply wrapped the tissue paper around the pipe cleaners and crumpled it up pretty good. I glued on eyes and bent the pipe cleaners to look like legs. Super simple.
I hung them from the ceiling with packing tape, and I used the tape to stick the crepe paper to the walls to make a spider web.
It was very simple to do and took me only a few minutes to get it set up.
We ended up doing two of these, at J’s request!
J first used it as an obstacle course to see if he could get to the other side without tearing it apart.
He loved weaving in and out of the web. It was tough, but he did it.
As he went back and forth, he started accidently tearing down the paper, so he tried to stick it all back on.
Then he decided that it was just way more fun to tear it all down!
He had to make sure that he got every last piece of paper off the walls.
Baby E had some fun too. He really liked checking out the spiders and he helped J rip the paper off the walls too!
J and E played with this activity for almost an hour. After he destroyed the first one, he asked me to do it again. So, we ended up doing two and it kept them both engaged for the longest time.
They both loved this so much, it might just become our new Halloween tradition!
Come on over to Facebook or Instagram to see how else we play!
Hi! We don’t normally celebrate Halloween here in Australia but some do and my 4 yr old has seen the decorations in the shops and has told me she wishes to celebrate it! I haven’t gone into much detail what it really is about, she just likes the witches, spiders and pumpkins. Im not sure what she expects to happen on Halloween as she is counting down the days…. But I love this activity and will set it up Wednesday night for her and her 2.5yr sister to wake up to Thurs morning. They will love it! Thanks!
I live in a small town that does not have many people who celebrate halloween so I started a halloween party. We have a cake walk, scavenger hunt and originally a scary pinata’. The first year we just invited some kids and I found “haunted treats” to serve.
This looks like an absolute blast! I seriously need to make the time to create something like this for my kids and niece and nephew!
Oh this is SO adorable! I know my toddler would have a blast with this spider web. Thanks for sharing. Pinning.
This is so cute – can’t wait to do this for my son. He’s going to get a kick out of it. Thanks!
