Small World: The Ocean

J has had a new interest in his animal figurines.  So, I decided to tap into that and set up a small world play full of his animal figures.  He’s not quite old enough to do a lot of intense make believe play, so I decided that if I added a good sensory experience to his small world, then he would enjoy it more.

So…I made an ocean with a sandy beach for his ocean animals.

It was a great way for J to learn new animal names and sounds.  It was also a wonderful way to bring a little bit of the beach indoors!
