Rice Play

Here’s a very successful activity I did with J when he was only 14 months old.

Toddlers and Rice

It was really simple.  I filled on container with rice and blue beads. I sat another empty container next to the full one.  I gave him a measuring spoon and cup to transfer the rice from the full dish into the empty one.

Playing with Rice

I was a bit worried about him eating the rice so I stayed near by.  However, he was too interested in the rice to put it in his mouth!

I can’t remember how long he played with it, but I do remember his smiles and laughter while he was playing!

Have you introduced rice play with your kids yet?

I need to do this with my toddler (and preschooler). They both would get a kick out of it!
