Painting With Cars

J is really big on cars right now (probably due to the abundance of cars he got for Christmas).  He plays and talks about them all day day long.  I thought I’d take advantage of this and ask him to do a little painting with cars.
This is the second time I tried this, and neither time went as well as I had imagined.

I first introduced him to this activity when he was 15 months old.  He seemed to understand the concept, but it didn’t keep his attention. I determine the success of an activity by how long he plays with it.  I’d say this lasted all about 5 minutes this time.

So, I tried again this week (J is 20 months old).  Again, he seemed to understand, but enjoyed playing with the empty paint cup than rolling the cars.  We painted for maybe 10 minutes…still made quite the mess though!

However….
This time I let him help wash the cars in the sink.  Now, this was the hit of the day.  We washed cars for half an hour!

Might I suggest putting plastic on the floor with towels over it if you’re going to let your little one play in the sink.

Oh yes,I’ve tried letting them wash in the sink. You do need something under the chair they are standing on.

This is always fun. My kids have a fascination with the kitchen sink! They always want up.
