Outdoor Water Dispenser

J loves playing with water outside.  His favorite thing to do is filling and dumping all sorts of containers.  It’s  a lot of fun for him…but not always for me.

My problem with this type of play is that J can’t fill the containers by himself. The valve on our water hose is tight and a bit tough for him to turn it off and on.  He also doesn’t have the hand strength to pull the nozzle on the sprayer.  I don’t want to take it off and leave the water on to soak the yard.  So, I was stuck standing  by the water hose filling up containers over and over…and over…and over again.

I a needed a solution to our little water problem…and I found one!

Water Dispenser, Water Play

I bought this drink dispenser for J’s birthday party.  It’s been sitting in our basement being unused since then.  I remembered it the other day and knew I had a solution to my problem.

This thing is plastic, holds 3.5 gallons of water, and has  a simple nozzle that J can work on his own.  Perfect!

Water Dispenser, Water Play

He loved filling up containers over and over again. The dispenser turned into a fun toy that kept him happy and engaged all morning.  I was able to sit and enjoy my time outside too.  No more standing by the water hose for me!

Water Dispenser, Water Play

It’s also great for hydration!

This could also be a solution for those of you in apartment complexes, or who don’t have access to a water hose.

I have the same problems with my boys and water play! Your post just gave me another idea, too: I was thinking of buying a rain barrel with a spigot for my husband’s garden. That would be great for water play, too, since it would hold so much more water!

That sounds like a wonderful idea! They could play in the tub of water and have a spout. I’ll have to look into that!

This was really an interesting look for a water dispenser. Everyone would surely have a convenience as they enjoy their outdoor experience.

That is a wonderful Idea. Only a mother can do this.

My mother used to go mad when we kept running into the kitchen to fill up our water balloons making a mess all over. Now my kids can do it in the garden, Thanks for the great idea.
