J’s all time favorite thing to play with is water. During the summer you can usually find us outside getting soaked with the water hose, sitting in pools of water, splashing in a foil river, filling containers of water, or mixing colored water. Inside, we splash in the sink, or put down towels in on the kitchen floor to fill containers with water. There are so many ways of playing with water, and can you say “frugal”!
I’m always trying to find fun ways of expanding our water play. Since Halloween is right around the corner, I thought I’d make our water play a bit more spooky this time.
I laid down some towels on our tile floor, put and bunch of water in a big plastic container, added cups, a few bubbles, and lots of plastic Halloween characters (I found at the dollar spot at Target). Simple, yet hours of play!
J sat right in the box and spent most of the time scooping out all the ghosts, pumpkins, spiders, and bats. We talked about the colors and textures of the characters.
We also talked about the bubbles and feel of the water. J practiced his scooping and pouring skills.
This was a seriously fun sensory experience for J. I love how he gets his whole body into the play!
