Each Monday I post something that can help you organize your home. I think that being organized really helps to run a household…especially with little kids running around.
This week is all about kids in the kitchen.
Having children help and contribute around the house is wonderful for a child’s self-esteem and sense of belonging. It also helps children learn life skills like cleaning up and doing household chores.
One way I do this with J is by having his dishes in a place where he can access them. He is able to get his plate and bowl out at mealtimes and puts them away when we unload the dishwasher.
The problem I have is that this is our drawer.
It’s a cluttered mess and not everything has a place. I would love to have his sippy cups and utensils down there too, but there just isn’t space and it’s not organized enough.
So, I’m taking inspiration from Lovely Design and her drawer boxes.
Brilliant huh?!
I’m not quite sure how I’m going to do this yet. I’ll let the idea marinate for a bit before I decide.
How do you organize your kids kitchen stuff? Any good pointers out there?
Our kid sized stuff is all accessible to my kiddos too. We have it in one our cabinets down low and it is all stacked up. For the most part, it stays fairly organized. I love it because the kids really enjoy helping get the table set and unloading the dishwasher. I may have to come up with an alternate though when baby brother learns to open cabinets…
HI Amanda
I just found you through Pinterest. I am on a mission to change my ways and get organized, with 2 toddlers my house is in constant mayhem! I sorted out the kiddies plates etc by using a magazine file for flat plates and a old cutlery drain/carry caddy for spoons and sporks ( does anyone remember them, half spoon half fork?) One thing sorted now on to the rest of my house!!!
Thanks for passing on your great ideas 🙂
Amanda ( great name btw 🙂
Hi Amanda! 🙂 Sounds like you have some great ideas! I love the magazine file for plates…genius! Thanks for the comment…hope you continue to follow along.
we don’t have much cupboard space in our kitchen so i have a basket with 4 kids plates , cups and bowls and the same amount of untensils that is place on the bookshelf in our dining room. my four year old knows tahts where hs can get his cup or bowl and the basket hides whats inside. so my mom won’t think its tacky!
