Snap Out Of It! How to Get Rid of Anger in 2 Seconds

It’s been one of those days.

You got absolutely NO sleep last night because one child wet the bed, and the baby still isn’t sleeping through the night.

Your kids have been fighting all day long and your oldest just pushed the baby over.

The baby is now crying and your oldest in yelling about how unfair life is.

Your house is a mess and you’re overwhelmed with the amount of work you have to get done.

You’re holding a crying baby, trying to listen to your oldest, when you trip over the shoes that you told your son to put away 10 times this morning.

You’ve had it!

One great parenting tip to get rid of anger in seconds. I'm surprised that this actually works! Links to more tips included.

The anger starts boiling up, you just want to SCREAM!

It’s time to Shake It Off!!

Throw those hands in the air and shake’m like you just don’t care!  Throw your head around and stop your feet.  Shake out all that anger!  You can even scream a little (or a lot).

I’m serious.

When you are feeling angry and like you want to punch something (come on, we’ve all felt that way before), drop everything you’re doing and shake your body.  Shake it as hard as you can.

It’s all about physically getting it out of your system.

stop yelling at kids, angry parent, parental anger

Shaking it off feels good and it re-energizes your body.  After those few seconds of shaking, it’s time to refocus on move along with your day.  Moving on can be difficult, and you might find yourself shaking all day long.

My guess is that if anger is a regular part of your day, shaking can work in the short term and it’s a fun tool to have in your toolbox, but you might need more.

If you struggle with feeling angry and frustrated at your kids and you life, there are tools that will teach you how to approach your kids calmly and handle their big emotions like a ninja.

This is so true! I haven’t shaken up but sometimes I’ll do something crazy silly, like throw my hands in the air and make some crazy babble sounds to be silly and funny instead. And it works!

Yep, getting silly is another one of my favorites. It’s also a great attention grabber for the kids. Making a fool of yourself is probably the quickest way to get them to actually pay attention to you. It’s amazing how well it works!

Is it bad to want to get angry now so I can try this? I really hope I remember about shaking it off when I’m in one of those moments.
