Get Organized: Solutions to Organize Kids Art Supplies

I think that one of the hardest things to organize are kid’s art supplies.  Anyone else agree?  So, I’m sharing with you how I organize my stuff.  I also have an awesome round up of ideas at the end too!

Tips and solutions for organizing kid's art supplies.
I let J have access to his art supplies…within reason.  I am not the Mom who leaves the art supplies out so that he can have full access to them all the time.  We go into our art closet and  pick out what he wants to play with and he can play with anything he wants.  I do believe that one day I’ll let him have a bit more freedom with them, but it just doesn’t feel right at the moment.  I do leave out crayons, markers, and paper for him to have whenever.

So, here’s how I organize the art supplies.

I organize in bins with labels most  of them time, and my closet is a good example of this.

The white letter box holds my greeting cards (not really crafty, but they need to go in this room).  On top of that, in the pink box, is my vinyl and supplies for my Silhouette Machine.  The six plastic bins hold all my filler for J’s sensory boxes.  As you can see, I need to get a few  more because I have stuff on top that won’t fit!  The white tub is J’s sensory tub.

Here are three of the Six stacking plastic drawers that hold all our art supplies.  Each one has a label and actually stay pretty organized.  J can go through each drawer and pick out what he wants to play with.  Plus, it’s really easy for me to just grab what I need a go.

I do have other things in the closet, that are mainly for my crafting purposes, so I won’t go into all that here.

Now, for the really fun part!  Here’s a round up of some really great organizing ideas that I’ve found.
Something To Do came up with such a frugal way of having her kid’s art supplies organized and easy to access.  This post has some other really great ideas too! I love the use of a Shoe Organizer, so simple.

Oh MY!! I love all the great organizing ideas!! I have something very similar to “something to do” we have an over the door shoe organizer with kid friendly items at the bottom and not so friendly up higher and then a simple two drawer rubbermaid!! But all the ideas really get my brain whirling!! Thanks

Great round-up of ideas. I use a door hanging shoe organizer (like Something To Do)and it works great for us. My favorite part is I can put certain supplies out of their reach and other safer supplies down low so they have free access.

      Thanks Krissy!

I think I’ll have to invest in a shoe organizer. I love the idae of letting the kiddos see everything that’s availiable to them, but have some things still out of reach!
