Do you have a question for me? Send me an email and I might do an “Ask Amanda” video for you!
I like the tips Amanda gave on the video. It is a bit tough to answer without knowing the ages of your kids but here are a couple of additional ideas. This is rather simple but I would ask your kids a few questions . . . Such as: I want to play with you, what should we do or show me how you want to play today – and be open to the answers. Kids are play experts! You can learn a lot by following their lead. If you are the listmaker have your kids help you make some lists of fun things they like to do. That way you can take a peak at the list if you get stuck for ideas. Best wishes ~Sheila
Amanda–I stopped over from a pin I saw. Loving your blog.
Great tips. Love it. In our house we like to tell jokes and make up silly stories.
I second the dance parties! We do those ourselves. When I’m playing with my boys I really think about what I LOVED when I was a kid. A tire swing, bike rides, forts. etc. If I;m doing something I enjoy its much easier to be silly with them.
Dance! Dance! Dance! We LOVE dance parties! And so true about enjoying the activity too…it’s the only way to be authentic and playful with your kids. They totally know when you’re faking it 🙂
Dance parties and hide and go seek seem to get my kids if a better mood and I enjoy them too!
Oh yes! We do those all the time. There’s nothing funnier than playing hide and go seek with a 2 year old!
If you feel silly doing it, it is probably something kids will find fun. Really lower your inhibitions and embrace saying yes to little things.
Exactly!!
