Well, we made it back home after spending 40 days in Texas! It was a great trip, but I’m so happy to be back home! I didn’t get my act together soon enough to get a New Years post out, so here it is a little late..sorry. Back to unpacking…sigh.
“Toys are like the child’s words and play is the child’s language” – Dr. Garry Landreth
Toys are so very important in a child’s life so I’ve decided to picked a few of J’s favorite from this past year. J was 12-20 months old for most of these, but several of them are great for lots of ages. This does not include my Homemade Toys that are a huge hit around here.
Here they are… My Top Toys of 2011!
Busa from Ikea. This tunnel has been so much fun for J! He love crawling through it and giggles all the way. Great for days when we play indoors when the weather is too bad to play outside.
Radio Flyer Scoot N Zoom! This toy is probably J’s favorite of the year! He rides this thing all over the house and plays with it outside too. It’s on 4 casters so it goes side to side too! This toy will be good for years to come! UPDATE ON RECALL: Some of these have been recalled, go here for more info.
Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Popper Push Toy. Another favorite, and a Classic! He will usually take both this and his Scoot N Zoom…one in each hand…and push them around the room together. It takes skill, but he does it. Silly kid.
Books: My Car by Byron Barton, Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell, and Peek-a-Who by Nina Laden. He
loves so many books, but these are probably the top three!
Just plain old makers and paper are a huge hit around here. He likes to color, but he really likes to match the tops to the marker.
Little Tikes Classic Turtle Sandbox: We bought this for J’s first birthday and it’s been a hit ever since. We wanted something portable since we move a lot and it’s great!. We also use the sand for other projects like sensory trays or artwork too!
B. Parum Pum Pum Drum from Target. He has loved this music kit for a while now. We pull them out whenever we put on the music and play along!
Nest & Stack Cups from I-Play: These are great and have been a good toy since J was 12 months. He is just now able to stack them by himself (not always in the right order though), but he started out nesting them and knocking down towers that we built. He has also gotten a hang of sorting the shapes into the right holes on the lid.
What are some of your kids favorite toys?
we have the instrument set from target. Lots of fun for my little ones. Happy new year.
