I know I said I was going to talk about technology and play today, but the day has gotten away from me and I need a decent amount of time to write that post. So it will be postponed until a later date…sorry.
I feel that nature is so important for little ones and there is so much to be learned from nature. It is sensory play in it’s truest form. Take a bowl of leaves…a child gets to feel the texture, see all the colors on one leaf, smell the natural scents, and hear the brittle leaves crumble.
It’s such an amazing experience to play outside, but it’s so easy to expand on that by bringing nature indoors. When a child explores and creates art with nature they are able to study and learn about elements in nature.
Here are some good ideas on how to bring the outdoors in!
Painting with natural objects from Providence Children’s Museum
Making Natural Artwork from Hinterland Mama
Painting Rocks from The Work Plan
Activity #23: Bring in Nature!
Go on a nature walk and pick up leaves, rocks, pinecones, etc., along the way. Bring them home and make some art! Paint, clue, cut, color…whatever your kids hearts desire! Let’s see what they come up with!
