Cars and Shaving Cream Play

J is obsessed with cars these days and I know that pretty much any activity that involves cars will be a hit with J.  So, when I ran across our can of shaving cream I knew what to add to it.

Cars, shaving cream, messy play

Let me tell you, this was by far the most successful activity I’ve done with J in months!

I smeared a thin-ish layer of shaving cream on a cookie sheet.  Then placed the cars on top…that’s it…simple

J loved driving the cars around an seeing the tire marks left in the shaving cream.

There were a few car crashes.

Then…

Then I threw the 2 year old in a bath with his cars and we had a car wash!  The shaving cream washes off everything really easily.  All it took was a few wet paper towels.

I just came across your blog and this is EXACTLY what I’ve been looking for to get ideas for educational & fun activities I can do with my son. I’ve spent the majority of his nap going through your old posts and can’t wait to get started on your wonderful ideas!

I was excited to see this activity, and bought shaving cream when I went to the store yesterday. I got the tray all ready when my son woke from his nap. He’s 26 months old. I knew he liked to be neat, but he kept asking me to wipe his hands off for him. 🙂 it turned into a water activity when I got a bowl of water out for him to clean his hands off. We need to do more messy activities I think! He had fun, and that’s what counts!

Cars in shaving cream are a favorite around the Clubhouse! Actually anything with shaving cream is a favorite 😀 At least everything washes off when shaving cream is the culprit. We recently had cars in Gak, and that was a much longer cleaning process. All in the name of sensory fun! Thanks for sharing 🙂

Yeah, it’s pretty evident that he enjoys that a lot! My son is into cars too, and I can’t believe I haven’t thought of that myself. It’ll be like car wash day! Thanks for the idea Amanda.
